Privacy Policy

Startup Office — Stone City Games · Effective 24 August 2026

This policy explains what Startup Office collects, why, and how to stop it or have it deleted. Startup Office has no accounts, no sign-in, no advertising and no in-app purchases. Unless you choose to send us your email address for a reply (see Feedback below), we do not know who you are and we have no way of finding out.

What we collect

Startup Office collects a small amount of anonymous gameplay and diagnostic information so we can see where players get stuck and find bugs. Collection is optional and can be turned off at any time in Settings. We collect:

• An install identifier and a session identifier. The install identifier is a randomly generated value created on your device the first time you open the game. The session identifier is a randomly generated value created each time you launch it. Neither is derived from your device, your hardware, your Google account, or any advertising identifier, and neither can be used to identify you. Reinstalling the game or clearing its data creates a new install identifier and permanently disconnects the old one.
• Gameplay progress. How long you have played, how many goals you have completed, whether the game was entered from the start screen, and summary numbers describing your in-game company — its valuation, cash, number of floors, rooms, staffed desks and products. Product counts only; we never collect the names you give products.
• Error diagnostics. When the game hits an error we record the type of error, the location in our own code where it happened, and a numeric fingerprint of the error. We do not collect the error message text itself, because an error message could contain something you typed.
• The app version and a timestamp from your device.

The leaderboard (optional)

The game has an optional global leaderboard. You are only on it if you choose to join. If you join, we collect and store the display name you choose and your in-game company's highest and current valuation, and we show them publicly to every player who opens the leaderboard. Nothing else about you appears there.

• You can change your name or leave the leaderboard at any time from the leaderboard screen. Leaving deletes your entry immediately, and you can rejoin later if you want.
• Entries that have not updated for 90 days are removed automatically and the name becomes available to other players.
• Choose your display name sensibly — it is visible to everyone. Names that impersonate us or contain offensive content may be renamed or removed. To report a name, email us at the address below.

Announcements and feedback (optional)

The game occasionally shows an announcement from us. Checking for announcements sends nothing about you or your device — it is a plain download, with no identifier of any kind attached.

Some announcements let you send us a response. If you choose to respond, we collect the text you write, together with your install identifier and app version. If you ask for a reply, we also collect the email address you provide, and we store it only for answering that message. If you do not ask for a reply, no email address is stored, even if you typed one into your message. Responses are deleted automatically after 90 days.

What we never collect

We do not collect your name, contacts, location, photos, files, messages, or any financial or health information. We do not collect your advertising identifier or any hardware or device identifier. Apart from the two optional features above — the leaderboard display name you choose and the feedback you choose to send — we do not collect any free text you enter in the game, including the names you give products. Startup Office contains no advertising networks, no social media integrations and no third-party analytics software of any kind.

How it is used and stored

This information is used only to run the game's optional online features and to improve the game — understanding where players stop, and finding and fixing bugs. It is sent over an encrypted connection to servers we operate ourselves and stored there. It is not shared with any third party, not sold, and not used for advertising or for tracking you across other apps or websites. The only information ever visible to other players is what the leaderboard shows: your chosen display name and your company's highest and current valuation, and only if you joined.

Your saved game

Your saved game is stored on your own device using standard browser storage and is never transmitted to us. We have no copy of it and no access to it. Uninstalling the game or clearing its data permanently removes it.

Your choices

• Leaderboard: join, rename, or leave at any time from the leaderboard screen. Leaving deletes your entry immediately.
• Feedback: responding to an announcement is always your choice, and giving an email address is a further choice on top of that.

Because we do not collect anything that identifies you, we cannot look up your data from your name or email address. To have your collected data deleted, follow the steps on our data deletion page — it takes the install ID shown in Settings → Diagnostics.

Retention

Collected gameplay and diagnostic data is deleted automatically after 90 days. Feedback responses, including any email address given with them, are deleted automatically after 90 days. Leaderboard entries are removed after 90 days without an update, and immediately if you leave.

Children

Startup Office is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and nothing we collect identifies any individual of any age unless they choose to provide an email address for a reply.

Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on infrastructure we control. Because we collect almost no information that identifies a person, a breach could expose at most the email addresses of players who recently asked for a reply — which is why they are stored only briefly and only for that purpose. Your saved game is protected by your device's own security, since it never leaves your device.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect, we will update this page and change the effective date above. The version of this policy in force is the one published here.
